
The EFG Medal of Merit is awarded to individuals who, in the view of Council, have provided exceptional and distinguished contributions to the EFG or to the geological profession in Europe.
The measure of distinguished service to professional geology in the European context includes but is not necessarily restricted to the following criteria:
- Enhancement of the standing and reputation of the profession
- Promotion of the role of geology to those outside the profession
- Influence on the way the European profession is viewed
- Significant contribution to the organisation of the profession
- Service of substantial duration
